At the annual meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research in Boston, Massachusetts, developmental scientist Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz reports that American and British researchers have created the world’s first synthetic human embryo-like structures using stem cells. According to Zernicka-Goetz, the findings could shed light on the causes of miscarriages.
