After 81 years, the wreckage of the Imperial Japanese Navy ship SS Montevideo Maru, sunk during WWII, has been discovered in the South China Sea off the coast of Luzon Island. The ship, which was carrying over 1,000 prisoners of war, including 850 Australian POWs, was responsible for Australia’s greatest loss of life during the Second World War.
